What Others Are Saying

LaBelle_S.jpeg
"I am thrilled to be writing an enthusiastic recommendation for Ellie Hood! Ellie was a student in my Advanced Message Design class in the Fall 2020 semester; as a group, Ellie's class was tasked with creating, implementing, and evaluating an entirely virtual communication campaign designed to reduce prescription stimulant misuse among their peers. This was no easy task, especially given the concerns regarding "Zoom fatigue" among their target audience. Thanks to students like Ellie, though, the campaign was a huge success. Ellie quickly emerged as a leader for the "Messaging Team," and was responsible for creating content across all communication channels for a three week campaign, as well as coordinating with other groups in the class to create a synergistic project. As a team leader, Ellie not only kept her team organized and on-task with daily agendas and a detailed schedule, but contributed in major ways to the creative aspects of message design. Ellie even helped to facilitate a focus group to obtain feedback on preliminary message concepts, using feedback and evidence-based messaging techniques to develop creative and informative messages on our campaign topic.

Ellie's hard work and positive attitude were very much appreciated by her peers, who gave her consistently high peer evaluations and noted the project would not have been the same without her contributions! I completely agree- as I wrote to Ellie in a reflection assignment for the class, "Your efforts in this class were remarkable, and you are a true leader in this class."

A lot of students at Chapman could be described as "hardworking and intelligent," but Ellie is truly a cut above. She is someone who can be relied upon for not only her natural leadership abilities and work ethic, but also for having that (sometimes rare) perfect blend of organizational skills and creativity. I am so looking forward to seeing how proud she makes us as a Chapman alum!"
